Tribal Funding

What is it?

The American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation (AIVR) Program is designed to assist eligible Native Americans with becoming employed.

A "Section 121 Project" refers to a tribal vocational rehabilitation project, named after the section of the law that provides funding.

Who is it for?

Tribal benefits are available for American Indians and Alaska Natives who reside on or near federal or state reservations, Alaska Native villages, rancheros, and pueblos.

How do I determine if I qualify?

Here are the criteria to determine eligibility for Section 121 AIVR services:

  • Does the applicant have a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) card?
  • Does the applicant have a physical or mental impairment?
  • Is the physical or mental impairment an impediment to employment?
  • Is there a reasonable expectation that the applicant will benefit in terms of an employment outcome from VR services?
  • Does the applicant require VR services in order to achieve a successful employment outcome?
